| Parked at Mark Adriance's place and climbed the Shaved Knob and then Vedder Ridge via the Frost Rd. spur. The weather really feels like spring, with a lot of wild contrast from minute to minute. Saw snow squalls sweeping across Sumas Mt. while vivid new elderberry leaves glowed like green lanterns around me in the dark woods on Vedder Ridge.
It felt good to ride the familiar logging roads again. Galbraith is tremendous fun, but I don't think it's as good for pure fitness training as a lot of logging road climbing, as Allison Dunlop and others have stressed.
Approximately 1500 verts.
This is an excerpt from Vert Quest, which chronicles The Man Known As Mongo's pursuit of the World Record for climbing on a mountain bike, 404,000 vertical feet, or the vertical equivalent of 13 sea-level-to-summit ascents of Mt. Everest during a 12 month period.
