A double rainbow over Sumas Mt. after a rainy day.
Rode Galbraith in the driving rain with Mark to see the new extension he's built which takes Wonderland all the way to the Keystone Rd. The trail is truly wonderful, and provides a much more rideable way down from the Towers now that the Tower Trail and the Polaski have become so eroded.
As I was arriving home, the rain clouds parted and the warm evening sunlight washed the landscape, throwing a double rainbow over Sumas Mt. to the south. I cooked dinner tonight -- Dad's deluxe hamburgers -- and made an special effort to get Laurel and Shanna to come to the dinner table, which they have become increasingly reluctant to do.
Approximately 1500 verts. This gives me 40,212 verts for the month, and 175,594 for the year so far. This is the second time in the three months I've had the Cannondale Jekyll that I've gone over 40,000 verts.
This is an excerpt from Vert Quest, which chronicles The Man Known As Mongo's pursuit of the World Record for climbing on a mountain bike, 404,000 vertical feet, or the vertical equivalent of 13 sea-level-to-summit ascents of Mt. Everest during a 12 month period.
