Mark Belles on the fly on Galbraith.

Rode Galbraith with Mark and Russ and Russ's old friend Joe. It wasn't a planned ride, we just all had the good fortune to arrive at Whatcom Falls Park at the the same time.

The group split up at the top of the Lower Ridge Trail, but arrived at the Car Seat at virtually the same time. From here, we hustled down the road to run Kaiser / Oly, which is becoming the toast of the mountain.

Back at the Car Seat, we ran into a couple old riding buddies of Mark's, including the guy Pete Miers stayed with when he was in B'ham. When we mentioned we'd ridden with Pete, he laughed, "oh yea, the wipeout ride." It's a small mountain.

Approximately 1700 verts.

This is an excerpt from Vert Quest, which chronicles The Man Known As Mongo's pursuit of the World Record for climbing on a mountain bike, 404,000 vertical feet, or the vertical equivalent of 13 sea-level-to-summit ascents of Mt. Everest during a 12 month period.
