Chris Christianson, former Fairhaven Bike mechanic, does a little impromptu wrenching on Mark's Jekyll on the trail. Mark just got the bike back after his cracked frame was replaced on warranty.
Rode Galbraith with Mark and Steve this morning even though I have a visible bruise below my left knee from my endo into the creek on Oly last night.
I was a little tentative and slow at the outset, but warmed up as we rode. Basically, I
could spin OK, but I couldn't torque on the knee.
Along the way, we connected with a guy named JJ from Elliott Bay Bikes in Seattle, who
was up visiting Kona.
At the end, coming down the last switchback on lower Bob's Trail, Steve again dumped in dramatic fashion. This time he went entirely over the edge on the lower side and disappeared into the buttonberry bushes.
Mark has his Cannondale Jekyll back with the new front frame, but it wasn't dialed right and he had a lot of trouble with the front derailier.
Approximately 1500 verts.
This is an excerpt from Vert Quest, which chronicles The Man Known As Mongo's pursuit of the World Record for climbing on a mountain bike, 404,000 vertical feet, or the vertical equivalent of 13 sea-level-to-summit ascents of Mt. Everest during a 12 month period.
