Mark riding the log rollover portal on the Lower Ridge Trail.

Rode Galbraith with Mark on a beautiful fall day. Neither of us was in a sprinting mood -- me because of my leg, and Mark because of the after effects of the endo he took yesterday on the Two Dollar Trail in the Chuckanuts. But we rode to the top and came down Wonderland and then the Dirty Sock and Oly. Both Oly and Kaiser were in prime condition.

Talked to Dave Tveit (who built the Ridge Trail extension this summer, as well as the Dave's trail connecting the Candies and the Car Seat) at the top of the Ridge Trail. He said that construction on the housing development on the lower Ridge Trail is about to start. Apparently they have to have their culverts in by the end of October.

Jimmy from Fairhaven Bike hand delivered my rear wheel to the Humboldt St. house (he lives next door). Turns out that the problem was a loose lock ring on the cassette. Jimmy said that was probably what was causing the creak too.

Approximately 2000 verts. I ended up with 33,000 verts for the month of September (despite the accident), bringing my total for the year to 318,094.

This is an excerpt from Vert Quest, which chronicles The Man Known As Mongo's pursuit of the World Record for climbing on a mountain bike, 404,000 vertical feet, or the vertical equivalent of 13 sea-level-to-summit ascents of Mt. Everest during a 12 month period.
