Bruce cruising through the Family Fun Center.

Rode Galbraith this morning with the Master, climbing the Ridge Trail and seeing no one (just like last night). We rode Bob's, then Banjoland and the Bunnies back to the pipeline road before retracing to the top of the Ridge Trail and continuing on up to Galen Rockenbauer's new trail near the Intestine. It's basically a single track traverse that eliminates the road ride from the top of the Appendix to the bottom of the Intestine. From there we climbed to the car seat and ripped down the Candies.

Our final move was to do upper Bob's AGAIN, where I rode the Graveyard of the Giants for the first time. I used a very slow, deliberate move with power on all the time but with at least two track stands en route, followed by lower Bob's, which was very sweet, although I lost the trail twice in the heavy leaves near the bottom. Mark, meanwhile was like water going down the drain: he was gone.

Approximately 1700 verts.

This is an excerpt from Vert Quest, which chronicles The Man Known As Mongo's pursuit of the World Record for climbing on a mountain bike, 404,000 vertical feet, or the vertical equivalent of 13 sea-level-to-summit ascents of Mt. Everest during a 12 month period.
