| Artist's notes: My digital homage to Edward Hopper, "The Edge of Town" marked an important turning point for me. This painting was both the first of several series I did during 2001-2003 ("The Edge of Town," "Bluffs," "The Summer Before The War," etc.), and the first piece where I brought together traditional painterly techniques (like the scrubbed canvas treatment of the grass in the midddle and right foreground) and digital effects (like the jagginess in the standing corn), to evoke a hot morning in August. | |
