Rode Galbraith on a new Canondale Jekyll 900 SL in a driving rain -- easily the worst conditions I've seen all winter on Galbraith.
Like the Specialized FSR Enduro I tested yesterday for GalbraithMt.com, the blue Jekyll came from from Fairhaven Bike as a demo. The Enduro was a nice enough bike, but I was stunned by the Jekyll's performance.
In fact, after I rode straight up Darrell's Death Climb on it in a driving rain with semi-slick tires, I got to the top and called John at Fairhaven Bike on my cell phone and told him I had to have the bike. Ended up ordering a Jekyll 900 SX (with the 4" travel Lefty instead of the 3" Headshock front end), which should arrive by the end of the week. TBC...
Meanwhile Russ was having mechanical problems, mostly with his drive train. Then afterwards he discovered he had a broken swing arm -- also his second broken swing arm in less than a year on his Specialized Stumpjumper FSR XC.
My Coda disc brakes gave out entirely near the end of Nick and Pete. I could pull the front brake leaver all the way to the handle bar and spin the wheel freely.
Approximately 2300 verts.
