Afternoon sun on Rosario Strait, Lummi Island and the San Juans.
Rode Galbraith again late this afternoon while Shanna watched a movie, "My Dog Skip," at the multiplex at the mall. With two hours, I was able to climb all the way up the Ridge Trail, Family Fun Center, Candy Trails, Upper Arsenio, and loop the Little Big Trail.

Felt quite strong, nailing everything all the way up, including the log jump just before the bridge in the FFC, and the rock combination at the top of Upper Arsenio. The only stunt I didn't clean all day long was the biggest log crossing at the bottom of Lower Arsenio.

The reason, I think, was that I was passive, and didn't attack. With the new Cannondale Jekyll, I have much greater ability to get over log crossings because the higher bottom bracket you can shift forward over the bike's center of gravity and keep peddling. This means you can take the logs slower -- and get thrown less -- knowing that you'll still be able to power across.

Approximately 1300 verts.

Vert Quest chronicles "The Man Known As Mongo's" pursuit of the World Record for climbing on a mountain bike, 404,000 vertical feet, or the vertical equivalent of 13 sea-level-to-summit ascents of Mt. Everest during a 12 month period. Mongo's mountain bike climbing tricks are distilled in Mongo's Over-the-top Guide to Climbing.
