Mark riding over the rocks at the beginning of 911.
Rode Galbraith with Mark on a foggy day that was supposed to clear off, but never really did until after our ride. Feels like fall -- the evening before I noticed ground fog for the first time on the Telegraph Rd on the way home to Sumas.
Having laid off for three days (for my father-in-law Murray Morgan's memorial service and the removal of the cyst from my back), I felt very strong, both on the climb and descent. I particularly enjoyed the rooty top of the Polaski. We also explored Dan Water's new new trail, AKA Dan's Trail , (which is extremely technical and unfinished), and Mark's new trail, Wonderland, which is a very mellow romp through the woods by comparison.
Wanged my ankle going over the bar just before Keystone drops into Steep Ck. in the
same rutty place I've also had trouble getting through on the climb. Mark said the line is
to go right before the turn and then swing to the left side in the turn. Also bruised my
other thigh when I took a stick through he rear when and bounded off a tree.
Mark rode the drop into Steep Ck. on Keystone -- the first person I've seen do it --
heading for Oly. If I hadn't just hammered my ankle I would have tried it. Have to once I
get my new Conti tires.
Meanwhile, Mark has discovered that his Cannondale Jekyll frame is cracked where the down bars from the trunion mount meet the down tube just above the bottom bracket. Examining my bike, we found that it is cracked there too!!! More to come on this, I'm sure...
Approximately 2300 verts.
