Rode Galbraith with Jimmy Breitenstein, Jason Ploskunak and Tom DeBari from Glacier, along with a couple friends of theirs.
Jimmy and Jason (age 24 and 25, for christsake) and I had been RIPPIN' -- trading the lead all day and taking everything (including Bob's, Evil Twin, Lost Giants, up Crazy 8s, up Purple Heart) at a full sprint. I was in the lead down the Intestine, and when I beat them to the Rubicon Road by a half dozen seconds I was so full myself that I gratuitously leapt off a rock on the side of the motorcycle sluiceway connector at high speed.
Big mistake. My front wheel washed out on the off-camber landing. This is a court of no appeals, and I was immediately hurled over the bars. The effect was pretty much like being thrown head first out of a car at 20+ mph onto a rocky gravel road. Ouch. I tore up both my legs, but despite all the blood, it's really just surface stuff. There's nothing broken, and my knees and ankles are fine. It's my head that needs help...
